ABOUT VITRUAL MAKING |

Virtual Making is a design exhibit that will showcase inspiring 3D printed art and design objects along with series of presentations and workshops showing the possibilities of cutting edge digital design and manufacturing (for more info have a look at "Program").
Designers Unlimited (Studio Thol, Kocx Ontwerpen, PeLiDesign, Wouter Scheublin and Design Drift) will showcase amazing new opportunities for professional designers. However, they are joined the winning design from the Shapeways Dutch Design Week ‘Everyday Design’ contest, as chosen by the Shapeways community.

Printed Toy Cars
De SLS techniek maakt
het mogelijk om zelfs
een compleet mechaniek
in 1 keer te vervaardigen.
Het laagje voor laagje
aan elkaar gesmolten
nylon poeder omvat
tandwielen, assen en
een spiraalveer die
na wegblazen van het
losse poeder direct in
actie kunnen komen. Het
nietsverhullende
ontwerp toont de
fascinerende techniek
van het opwindmechaniek.

Lamp
Een bureaulamp die is ontstaan vanuit de fascinatie voor constructie en de interactie tussen gebruiker en product. Wanneer je hem aanzet richt hij zich op en bundelt de Led-verlichting tot functionele verlichting. Wanneer je hem uitschakelt klap hij weer in.

A Machine’s Perception
A scanner is only a human, in other words: machines are not that perfect as we see them. With the project ‘A Machine’s Perception’ I want to go to the fringes of automated reproduction.
A 3D scan is seemingly accurate but indeed it is very much subject to coincidence if you go to the technological frontiers the true nature or the essence of scanning is revealed.
After 3D printing the scans get touchable – in a beautiful way as I think.
